Iguazu Falls
Iguazu Falls is the largest waterfall in the world. The waterfall varies in height from 60 meters (197 feet) to 82 meters (269 feet) tall. The most famous part of the waterfalls is a U-shaped cliff that plunges 80 meters (262 feet) tall. This drop is called the Devil’s Throat or Garganta del Diablo in Spanish. As well as being extremely tall, it is also the widest waterfall in the world. Iguaza Falls is 2.7 km (1.7 miles) wide. There are 275 smaller waterfalls that branch off of it. The waterfall ends up flowing into the Iguazu River which is 1,320 kilometers (820 miles) long. The waterfall itself is 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles) long. Iguaza Falls sits on the border of Brazil and Argentina. The Argentinian side is better for close-up viewing of the falls but the Brazilian side is better for an overall panoramic view. Other ways to see the waterfall are through boat rides, hiking trails, and helicopter tours. March to May (Autumn) and September to November (Spring) is when the park is the most crowded but also has pleasant temperatures and a good amount of waterflow. December to February (Summer) is when you should expect to see stronger falls but higher temperatures. June to August (Winter) is when the temperatures are the lowest but the strength of the flow is not very high. The climate around Iguazu Falls is subtropical with the rainy season being October to March and June to August is drier. The temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). Jaguars, toucans, coatis, and butterflies are expected to be found around the falls. Some plants that can be found consist of orchids and bamboo. Iguazu Falls has a diverse climate and various wildlife.
